Three years ago, I stumbled upon a program entitled Model United Nations. Well, ever since then my life has never been the same anymore. Starting out as a delegate who knew nothing about the MUN procedure in the Disarmament Commission at China to having an opportunity to serve as one of the secretariats for YMUN, my MUN career indeed has been a bumpy yet beautiful ride. Honorable chairs, esteemed delegates, and distinguished guests, my name is Chit Su Lwin, a senior from Yangon International School and it is my utmost honor to be able to serve as one of your deputy secretary generals. I look forward to meeting everyone at the conference and if you need help with anything, feel free to email or message me anytime. Thank you!

Hello everyone! My name is Alice Liu, a senior at Yangon International School, and it is my absolute privilege to serve as your Deputy Secretary General at this year’s YMUN. This conference will be my 12th conference and it will eventually mark the end of my MUN journey in high school. As I look back at my delegate and chairing career, it is fainting how this particular experience shifted the way I view the world and shaped me into the person I am today. I hope everyone can get the best out of this conference and I look forward to meeting you all!

My name is Marco Peyré and I will be serving as your Deputy Secretary General for YMUN 2020. I am a junior at the International School Yangon and Model United Nations has been a long time passion of mine. From the very moment you step foot into the commencement ceremony of YMUN XI, enter with an open mind and an inherent desire to bring about change. In this conference, we hope to help you see past the contingent and often corrupt illusion that is diplomacy, so when it is time for our generation to take on the burden, we do not repeat the mistakes of our predecessors. Challenge one another, learn new things, and perhaps most importantly, solve the issue at hand. I look forward to seeing you all at the conference.

It is a great pleasure to be serving as your Deputy Secretary General for YMUN XI. My name is Hla Yin Min and I am currently a junior at the International School Yangon. This year, the Secretariat Team has chosen the “The Tipping Point” as the theme of this year’s conference. We have chosen this theme as a way to shed light upon global catastrophes that has or will continue to shape the outcome of our lives. This marks a significant period in history that calls for universal cooperation between each nation especially in mitigating climate change. I hope that delegates engage in discussions and debates in the backdrop of this reminder– the reminder that it is up to the actions and decisions of our generation to salvage our world from descending into an endless chasm of chaos and disaster. I hope YMUN XI will be an unforgettable experience for everyone.

My name is Jessica Mo and I am a senior at the International School of Myanmar. Last year I had the experience of chairing for YMUN and I will now be serving as one of your Deputy Secretary Generals this year for which I am more than honored to do so. This year will be my fourth and final year participating in the Yangon Model United Nations conference, so I truly hope for nothing but the best for every single chair and delegate in this year's conference. From my first YMUN to my last, I have seen this event grow in size, incorporating schools from all over Yangon and Mandalay, and I would like to personally welcome and thank everyone for participating. Model UN is truly one of the best learning experiences one can have in high school, and I highly encourage everyone to continue participating in years to come. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at or reach out elsewhere. I hope your YMUN experience will be enjoyable and I hope that this year's conference will be one to remember.
